We are excited to share that we recently signed a new, long-term supply agreement with Meggitt, our 2Ku radome manufacturer, announced at the Paris Air Show today. As a world leader in aerospace, defense and energy technologies, Meggitt, in collaboration with our Gogo teams, has helped transform and adapt our 2Ku radome production to create a unique and easy-to-install linefit product, which in turn has created performance enhancements, unit cost reduction, and elimination of production process waste. Meggitt is our exclusive manufacturer of the radome and seal, crucial parts of the proprietary design.
To date, Meggitt has produced over 750 2Ku radomes for Gogo. Early production assemblies were exclusively for retrofit installations on major airline fleets, but since May of 2017, Meggitt has been delivering updated assembly that satisfies the OEM linefit requirements initially for Airbus on A320, A330, A350, and A380 aircraft, with more OEMs to follow.
The high-performance, high-production volume facility, located in Rockmart, Georgia, has allowed for increased production capability and streamlined assembly of the 2Ku product line. According to David Horner, President of Meggitt Polymers & Composites, “Together Gogo and Meggitt transformed the 2Ku product line into a unique assembly that costs less for customers to install and minimizes the impact to operating costs through its extremely aerodynamic design and lightweight composite construction.”
We are proud to work with Meggitt to advance our goals of providing the best aircraft connectivity products and services for our airline partners.
