As part of our commitment to keeping you updated on our latest 2Ku progress, we’ll start publishing weekly updates on our installation progress. As a quick reminder, 2Ku is our unique dual-antenna satellite Internet system. 2Ku is currently installed on three airlines (AeroMexico, Delta and GOL) and delivers streaming video capable speeds to passengers. 2Ku is currently committed to over 1500 aircraft over 14 different airlines.
Currently, we have 2Ku installed on over 70 aircraft and we now have 12 installation lines up and running, completing around one installation every day.
In addition to this record installation pace, we’ve also managed to get the installation time down to 3 days. Installation of 2Ku is an incredibly complex process, as you can see in the video above. A 2Ku system consists of the equipment installed on top of the plane (the mounting ring, dual antennas and radome), the cabin equipment (wireless access points, content loader) and the airborne equipment (Satellite modem, Gogo Airborne CPU). Customers are also starting to experience what 2Ku has to offer. Along with the latest installation updates, we’ll also continue to feature customer experiences from flying on a 2Ku equipped plane. If your plane has #2Ku, be sure to give us a mention through Facebook or Twitter.
